Mary Pat Bentel is an indie producer based in LA. Her most recent film, THE LIE, based on T.C. Boyle’s short story of the same name, premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and sold for theatrical distribution to Screen Media. Next up is Allison Anders’ THE AMOROUS HUMPHREY PLUGG, starring Gabriel Byrne.
Prior to these flicks, she produced BOLD NATIVE, a politically charged thriller set in the world of animal liberation, which played across the U.S. last year; and a rom com starring Danny DeVito, Justin Long and Jonah Hill titled JUST ADD WATER, which Sony released theatrically.
Bentel has also shepherded several documentaries, including THE ROCK STAR, THE ACTIVIST AND MR. ROVE, a film that followed Sheryl Crow and Laurie David (An Inconvenient Truth) on their quest to stop global warming, and ROCK THE BELLS, which chronicled the Wu-Tang Clan’s final concert with Old Dirty Bastard.
In addition to long-form work, she’s produced a slew of shorts for directors she believes in, as well as with studios Disney and Paramount. She’s produced many music videos, for bands such as Fitz & The Tantrums, Morcheeba, Noah & The Whale, and Fanny Lu; and commercials for clients such as AT&T, American Express and Belkin.
