When Mark Webber was a teenager in North Philly he dreamed of becoming a “movie star” to get out of the ghetto and get the girls. Before finishing at his performance art high school, he walked into a casting office and declared to the agent that he was “available”. It was this determination that got him in the door but it was his talent that found him working with some of the greatest directors of our time. Early on, Mark shed his initial motivations and found in himself an artistic integrity that drives him to look for great stories and interesting roles. As an actor, he has appeared in over twenty-five films including STORYTELLING by Todd Solondz, BROKEN FLOWERS by Jim Jarmusch, The Hottest State by Ethan Hawke, THE LARAMIE PROJECTby Moises Kaufman, DEAR WENDY by Thomas Vinterberg, HOLLYWOOD ENDING by Woody Allen among others. He is currently staring opposite Michael Cera in the Edgar Wright directed SCOTT PILGRIM -VS- THE WORLD. Mark is also an accomplished stage actor, originating the role of Darryl in Neil Labute’s THE DISTANCE FROM HERE and worked opposite William H. Macy and Phillip Baker Hall in Mamet’s AMERICAN BUFFALO. EXPLICIT ILLS was his first directorial outing which went on to win the 2008 SXSW Audience Award and Best Cinematography. Peace Arch went on to release the film theatrically in the spring of 2009 to rave reviews. Mark is now working on his next screenplay.
